Oort Star is what's commonly referred to as a MORPG. Multi player online role playing game. Players are in control of their own destiny in game but at the same time live and play side by side their fellow captains.
The Oort Star Universe is a persistent one. Unlike many online web browser games that reset at given points Oort Star does not reset and maintains game play in a linear fashion. Time spent playing the game is thereby not wasted nor lost due to a reset.
Oort Star has many avenues of play but there are Six main Specialisms. When creating a new captain you are offered the choice of learning a specialism. This will decide your initial set up, equipment and primary skills.
Learning a specialism gives you a boost in that particular chosen path but does not lock you in to a specific career. Later should you wish you can lean the skills of other specialisms.
Don't forget with Oort star you can own multiple captains on the same account allowing you to experience other specialisms with no risk involved.
Specialisms also carry with them the option as you progress to move into managing your own business in your chosen specialism. Eventually micro managing a fleet of ships and perhaps building your own business empire.
Oortstar is made up of a myriad of alien races spanning vast galactic distances. You will find groups like the Rigellan Syndicate, Mercantile Empire and the Foreen Alliance and many others who will joust for your allegiance.
Story driven arcs will span your time in game and be there for you to follow from your first day to your last in the Oort Star Universe. These will draw you in and also act as a path to follow should you become overwhelmed with choices.
There are two primary factions in Oortstar. These are the Planetary Federation and the Commonwealth of Planets. These two factions were founded by the Maylar and the Rivkin some four thousand years ago.
Today there are many sub factions, each with their own agenda and inter faction loyalties and hatreds, but these two great empires span the Oort Star Universe and try their best to keep the peace amongst the 157 member alien races.
Humans were sponsored in to the Planetary Federation a little over 230 years ago by the Maylar. Since then captains have been arriving in the Satora system for their orientation and initial training.
The Maylar allow new comers a free choice of their chosen path and loyalties. New Captains will find themselves earning faction reputation throughout the game based on their actions. You will find that gaining faction with one group may well loose you faction with another, so always keep a keen eye on your faction loyalties as you progress.
New captains in Oort Star start with a small multi purpose ship, some basic skills (dependant on your chosen specialism) and the initial tools to start out in your chosen path.
From herein there is much a captain can do to advance. You will need to work on your specialism, upgrading your skills, upgrading your tools and ship based systems as you advance.
Captains can earn credits from Character missions, selling loot, trading with others and completing story line arc driven missions. As you progress you will gain XP and Faction points. These will level your captain and open faction controlled areas of the game.
By the time you leave Wellspring you will be able to purchase a more specialised ship and continue your adventures in style.
There is a myriad of ways to level a captain in Oort Star but the key is freedom of choice. Do what feels right to you, make your own choices and carve out your own adventures.
Follow your specialism and choose to run a micro managed business or perhaps set up an outpost and expand from there, in the end the choices will be yours.
Oort Star is no stranger to the idea of Dungeon systems. In fact, you will find that these varied dungeons allow you to interact and have fun with your friends no matter the distance or specialism you have chosen. Of course with rewards comes danger and challenge so don't expect a walk in the park!
You will also find Oort Star sporting numerous raid systems. Again, allowing players to join in with their friends in teams to surmount the challenges and make off with the rewards. All the various specialisms in the game can aid in these bringing their their own specialised skills to the table.
Why not look at one of the side lines of Oort star and join in the mech Fun. From an early stage in game you can purchase parts and have a mech running around the nearest mech Zone. Throughout your time in game you can advance this area of the game and go on to build your own parts and create more powerful and intelligent mechs.
Earn rewards and prizes, rank up the mech levels earning a name for yourself or simply enter for the fun of it. Taken seriously or for fun its an interesting sideline to Oort Star.
Most games these days have crafting of some shape or form, but Oort Star takes it to the next level then blows the roof off! If you're a keen crafter then you will find Oort star is just the game you've been looking for.
We have strived long and hard to make the crafting system in Oort Star the most diverse and engaging system there is in any browser based game.
Oort Star gives you the opportunity fairly early on to own your own Outpost. This can be used as a base of operations and become a place to call home. Make if grand enough and who knows perhaps you might find companies offering their services and characters paying you visits and offering you missions right on your own door step.
Either way an outpost can be a great boon to a player giving them a base of operations offering several bonuses and of course a place to call home.
The ability to utilise an item in Oort Star is based off your captains level and of course your skill to use such an item. When you chose a specialism you are fast trained the basic skills you will need to follow your chosen path.
From then on in you will need to train (in real time) the skills you need to progress your captain. Early skills can be learnt in a matter of minutes, but over time as you level these skills and learn more advanced skills your choices will begin to mould your captains advancement.
Skills are learnt though the use of Certificates. You can purchase certificates from various academies and once activated learn the relevant skill. Each skill can then be levelled to its maximum over a period of time.
Skills are persistent and no matter what happens to your captain you will never loose a learnt skill. You will find that many skills have a sub requirement so you will need to plan carefully.
